The UK energy market is facing imminent change to keep up with the shift to renewables, and the National Grid is becoming increasingly overwhelmed by the transition to electric transport. The companies considered for UK Innovation in the energy market have been working towards balancing the grid during this energy transition.
Joe Warren, Managing Director of Powervault, said “It’s wonderful to be shortlisted for a prestigious Ashden Award, it is testament to the hard work and dedication of the Powervault team and we’re delighted to be recognised amongst fellow pioneers in sustainable energy.”
Ashden, the London based charity, founded the Ashden Awards in 2001 and since then has rewarded more than 200 enterprises around the world. This has led to a collective improvement in the lives of more than 88 million people and saved 13 million tonnes of CO2 emissions every year. Ashden’s mission is to advocate, and continue to award, those increasing energy access in developing countries until they reach a world where everyone has access to clean, affordable, reliable energy.
Along with the other shortlisted organisations, Powervault will be assessed through a rigorous judging process involving a panel of industry experts and technical assessments. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Royal Geographical Society in London on the 14th June.
